2016 has been a busy and exciting year for the Prahlow family. As you celebrate the advent of the Lord Jesus this holiday season, we want to share with you some of the joys of this past year:
January marked the completion of our first year at The Rock Church of Saint Louis, and in a few short weeks we’ll have been blessed by our church family for two years. We stay busy at the Rock, where Jake teaches Sunday School, Hayley coordinates crafts, and together we help lead a weekly Community Group. The end of January was also marked by some especially fun news, as we surprised both sets of parents by driving to Michigan and letting them know they would soon be grandparents.
In May, Jake completed the second year of his Ph.D. program in historical theology at Saint Louis University. Our summer was filled with celebration, first with our fourth wedding anniversary in June and then with the wedding of Sam (Jake’s brother) and Brittney in Tallahassee.
In the early morning hours of August 10, our lives were changed forever as we welcomed Bree Carolyn Prahlow into the world. She showed up about a month earlier than originally anticipated, but she arrived healthy and happy to finally see those people who had been talking to her for months. It has been simply marvelous to watch her grow, learn, and develop her own personality these past four months!
Hayley stays busy with Bree and her Etsy business (Quilts by Hayley), which continues to thrive and expand. She loves spending as much time as possible with Bree-berry, watching Heartland, and coming up with creative ideas for home, church, and friends.
Bree delights in eating, sleeping, pooping, eating, sleeping, and pooping. Recently she has taken up rolling over (but only when she feels like it) and trying to sit up. Her favorite color is red and her favorite pastimes are tracking her mobile, cooing, and squeezing her giraffe, Geoffrey.
Jake stays very busy teaching theology classes at SLU and working on his dissertation. He enjoys celebrating the Cubs World Series win (!!!), instructing Bree in the ways of the Force, writing on his blog, and (sometimes) working on the house.
We hope your 2016 has likewise been filled with much joy. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy 2017! ~Jake, Hayley, and Bree Prahlow
God Bless and Merry Christmas!!
